Pilots With A Fear Of Heights

I definitely have an ongoing reaction to heights, but it only affects me when I'm looking up at the drone. Even after years, 400ft up seems like a thousand. When I'm looking at the screen, and focusing on what is happening there, I get involved in the video and the controls and I don't feel...

M2P Dirft to right with no tuch the stick of RC

By drift do you mean it rotates to the right when standing still? Try calibrating the controller.

    Cops Called

Sorry about that. A lot of ignorant people out there. Had a fellow droner walk up to me yesterday and ask if I had a "license", the proceeded to tell me that drones are illegal without a permit in Calif. parks. Not true. So this is a wide phenomenon. Good to have local, county, and state...

Occusync (MavPro) vs Wifi on the Mavic Air - need help!

I have both of these and like them both. The pro is a great workhorse with better rc range and lifting capacity. In the us, both drones have very good range. In Europe, the air, in my experience, is a line of sight device, capable of 300 it 400 meters distance. This is enough for short range...

    Sand particles in motor

I'm a believer in hand launch / catch, though I use it only when necessary when there is no suitable spot of ground. In my experience turning off VPS does not stop the Mavic from fighting you - turn off Landing Protection, and leave VPS on if you want.

    Mavic attacked by a swarm

These are probably honeybee drones who think they just discovered the most fantastic queen bee, which ironically turns out to be your drone. They wait at about 50 feet altitude and listen for the queen's wing beat frequency. If you go higher, or lower, they will ease off.

Mavic Air: Would you buy it again?

Yes, I have both at the moment, and love both of them. Wall-e and Eve haha.

I had my first atti mode experience!!

Hubsan makes good durable drones that will get you used to ATTI mode. In the $100 range or less. Get one with altitude hold if possible. Good learning experience, but keep in mind they are much harder to fly than the Mavic. BTW - you can set your Mavic up to access ATTI mode via the sport...

    Mavic Air vignette test

Thanks - yes, the "flat field" I was referring to should have been "flat field illumination".. Your article inspired me to check out my Mavic Air today and it seems to be uniformly sharp, with significant burring in the corners, but good enough for video work. Good as they are, these tiny...

    Mavic Air vignette test

The GIMP also has divide mode, and had it before Photoshop did. I wonder if there could be a procedure to remove vignetting that way.

    Mavic Air vignette test

Very interestingi i can't recall anyone posting their results in such a complete and clear way ever! Kudos to you. Have you considered shooting a flat field image using a relatively close up target such as a sheet of paper? I've used photoshop's divide layer mode to flatten the field in...

Android person wants stable tablet recommendation (iPad?)

I'm with msinger on the issue of GPS and cellular, particularly if you are not going to moving around after you have launched your Mavic. Here are some scenarios, in order of importance, where GPS in the iPad would be helpful: The Find My Drone feature requires native GPS on your mobile...

Android person wants stable tablet recommendation (iPad?)

This thread has really got a life of it's own. Since I started the thread, I think I'll chime in with my experiences with the iPad 4 over the past year, pluses and minuses, in order of importance. Pluses No crashes or hangs to speak of. This is huge, both from a piece of mind and a safety...

    Clipping issue

This looks like the cached video on your tablet / phone, not the higher quality "real" video that goes to the onboard flash or SD card.

Atti mode w Mavic Vs Phantom?

Re flying a Mavic through the tunnel - use OPTI mode, not ATTI, and illuminate the area under the Mavic if necessary. Good luck - sounds like this will be an interesting video.
