The other suggestion I'd have is prop guards. May give some protection if you're too close to a branch but will also give you a much better feel for where the props are.

Only ever used it to check it works and never since - prefer to be in control.

Most Youtube videos say you have to hold the mavic as it tries to climb when landing on your hand. I don't bother, just hover in front of you, hold your hand flat and push the joystick down on the controller, it will climb a bit and then settle in your hand. To me this is simpler than swiping...

I have two and never been in a situation where I wish I had a third - really depends on your planned use but unless you're setting out to be a heavy user I'd say go for two and buy a third if you feel you need it. Very much at the hobby end of the usage spectrum!
