I thought it was a bit of a cosmetic downgrade. They have gone back to the thicker iPad Air 1 case (7.5mm vs 6.1mm thickness) and lost the laminated screen with the anti-reflective coating. The specs are a bit better and the price lower, so not a bad deal overall.
