Air 3 Release date Wed. June 28?

I was not implying that DJI was releasing the Air 3 to help Air 2 owners. The fact that DJI appears not to be issuing a firmware update to make the Air 2 RID compliant is my point, and someone like me with a single drone - Air 2 - might be incline to replace it with an Air 3. In my mind getting...

Air 3 Release date Wed. June 28?

Clearly the Air 3 is aimed at USA Air 2 owners since there's no indication DJI is making the Air 2 compliant with FAA RID requirements that take affect in three months. Makes sense - if I'm thinking of replacing my Air 2 do I buy a two year old Air 2S or a new Air 3...

Air 3 to be released in May?

Pure speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if DJI just took the Air 2S and refreshed it a bit (48 MP sensor, improved battery, OS 3+) and named it the Air 3. So that it looks more mid-tier recreational, raise the price a little from $849 to $899. This would make for a logical product line...

    Any reason to upgrade?

I also have an almost three year old Air2 and fly about once a month in the northern California area - not the easiest area to find legal spots. Given that DJI doesn't appear to be making the Air2 compliant with FAA RID and just a few months to go before it is mandatory, if there's no Air 3...

Air 2 no longer on sale - Air 3 release date leak!!

That was my point. The "Air 2S" is the undated version of the "Mavic Air 2"... it was never clear to me why DJI dropped "Mavic"... they did a similar rebranding with the Mini starting with the SE model. They want to distinguish the "Mavic" brand as the higher end priced/semi-professional...

Air 2 no longer on sale - Air 3 release date leak!!

You misread my comment, I'm referring to the "Air 2" in the plural form and "s", as in Air 2 drones, and not the singular model designator of "S"

Air 2 no longer on sale - Air 3 release date leak!!

Actually I was reacting to the table in the OP that shows a "DJI Mavic 3S" to be released in July 2023.

Air 2 no longer on sale - Air 3 release date leak!!

Given the Air 2 is no longer being sold by DJI and there's been no firmware update from DJI to make Air 2s RID compliant, does this lend more evidence for a new Air 3 release this year. Maybe as a replacement for the Air 2S? Also I wish DJI would work on its model naming convention. Instead of...

    Intresting Toroidal Prop Design

The MIT highlight release on this design had some key points... ------- KEY FEATURES • Decreases signals in the frequency range to which humans are most sensitive • Reduces noise without requiring supplementary components that add weight and increase power draw • Lessens the likelihood that the...

    DJI Aeroscope / pilot identification

It should be note that the DJI Aeroscope system cost $10ks for fixed installations and even the portable unit is expensive. I've actually worked with several FBI special operations units over the years, and let me tell you they do have the best "toys" in public safety/law enforcement. I was on a...

Navy Pier Chicago Illegal to Fly? I got assaulted there for not showing my ID to a security guard there.

I just asked a question - if under California trespassing law Penal Code 602.1, if security guard asks a drone pilot to not fly over the private business they were guarding, it seems like if they don't comply it "could be"* considered trespassing in California. So the point of my original post...

Navy Pier Chicago Illegal to Fly? I got assaulted there for not showing my ID to a security guard there.

So to go back to the OP and question of flying over the Navy Pier in Chicago. The Navy Pier is owned by the Navy Pier, Inc. which according to their website is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established in 2011, and is private property. It appears for the OP - while not explicitly stated...

Navy Pier Chicago Illegal to Fly? I got assaulted there for not showing my ID to a security guard there.

So I was referring to California law - Civil Code 1708.8 (a) A person is liable for physical invasion of privacy when the person knowingly enters onto the land or into the airspace above the land of another person without permission or otherwise commits a trespass in order to capture any type...
