Clearly the Air 3 is aimed at USA Air 2 owners since there's no indication DJI is making the Air 2 compliant with FAA RID requirements that take affect in three months. Makes sense - if I'm thinking of replacing my Air 2 do I buy a two year old Air 2S or a new Air 3...

Pure speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if DJI just took the Air 2S and refreshed it a bit (48 MP sensor, improved battery, OS 3+) and named it the Air 3. So that it looks more mid-tier recreational, raise the price a little from $849 to $899. This would make for a logical product line...

You misread my comment, I'm referring to the "Air 2" in the plural form and "s", as in Air 2 drones, and not the singular model designator of "S"

Actually I was reacting to the table in the OP that shows a "DJI Mavic 3S" to be released in July 2023.
