I dreamed this flight path, then I flew it....

Very pretty spot! I find that when I want to capture sequences especially like your intro segment, I use waypoint mode, allowing me to focus on controlling the camera. The past few years I've been using Autopilot to automate everything and set up focus points, but most of it can be done for...

    Drone in Belize

No problems, but it's so small. I was not asked to declare anything. If you bring it / fly - just know that there are tons of small airports and small aircraft that fly very low. And also know that it's against the rules, you need a permit.

    Canadian drone law

Alberta parks = no take off/landing, just like National Parks. Try and find it on the web - almost impossible. However I have been assured by them that it does exist in writing, somewhere.

    Canadian drone law

I recognize they are purposefully vague on what the actual LAWS are for recreational users - this should be clearly clarified with links to the laws. The park service is clearest about this - but even then it is take-off and landing. I have common sense when I fly, but I think it's important...

70 kmh post your top speed

Of course the fast ones are done with wind. 95.7kph here with wind. It can certainly go faster in more wind, unsurprisingly.

    Litchi vs Autopilot

Autopilot is simply incredible. If you do not have the need or want to run a complex mission (ie planning a waypoint mission around a golf course or for a real estate flyover) then you don't need it. However, if you want to create truly professional videos and be able to control every nuance...

    Alberta Meet

Fly it in the simulator and once you are ready, turn on the wind setting to learn how to compensate. These really do fly themselves, it's the pilots that screw it all up. Make yourself a preflight checklist or get one off the web that you like. Make sure it includes return to home settings.

    Canadian drone law

Unfortunately there are lots of areas that have in-print laws forbidding use, but they are extremely difficult to find out about. For instance, City of Calgary - can't fly in/over parks and roads Alberta Parks - no take offs/landings in any of them. Good luck finding the documentation online...

    Landing/taking off from a slope.

I use my nose to swipe the slider, it's pretty straightforward after a couple tries

    Landing/taking off from a slope.

Rise your hand slowly from below it until you see the mavic rise (to avoid it). Then press control stick down and it will lower to your hand as if to land on the ground. No problems with forward detection in this case, and no need to turn off VPS

    Drone in Belize

I've brought my P3A there a few times, never had any issues. Thanks for bringing this up - I'm headed there in Jan. I generally only fly over my house / property though. Best to follow the rules - what a drag though.

    Bicycle mount

Anyone have any interest or thoughts in designing a mount for the Mavic that would bolt to the water bottle cage mounts? I'm a road biker, and it would fit perfectly within the triangle. Haven't seen anything like that yet, and am trying to avoid having to bend up an aluminum setup.

Hand Launching and Catching with protection

Rise your hand slowly from below it until you see the mavic rise (to avoid it). Then press control stick down and it will lower to your hand as if to land on the ground. No problems with forward detection in this case

    Mavic Pro vs Snow

I have flown mine in large, heavy, wet snowflakes - the vision system definitely picked them up. In smaller snow it was fine and flew without issue. For what it's worth, in both instances the motors were dry under the props. In fact the entire body was less wet compared to flying it in light...

Almost had a fly-away due to wind

Did you get any warnings about battery drain? I find it hard to believe the wind was strong enough that it couldn't fly back under max power. I think as others have said, switch to sport mode when in doubt. If you're quick with the controller, course lock can also help here to simplify your...
