Mavic Air - Filters for Photography (not videography)

Yes, filters for photography with a drone aren't particularly used. However, your best bet would be to use a UV filter for photography. Gives you some protection on the lens and also some say it will give a little more contrast in the photo. Sometimes I will use a very light filter (ND4 or...

    Mavic in California

Yes, that's better for clarification. I was reading it assuming that he meant if he crashed it in another country they wouldn't honour the Refresh warranty. I still wish I recorded when I crashed it. I was just wasting battery as I had a flight later that day back to Canada. I had turned it...

    Mavic in California

Not fully true. Just bring it home and send it out from there. I'm from Canada. Crashed my drone while traveling in the UK. Brought it home to Canada, sent it in for Refresh. Got a new one sent within a week or two. Not a single problem.

SRI LANKA - The Pearl of the Indian Ocean

Just check on the drone laws for Sri Lanka. I believe that you need to apply for a certificate to fly a drone in Sri Lanka. Isn't a simple show up and fly scenario (well....it can if you want to risk it, I guess).

    Mavic Pro Lost over dam

After reading all of the posts, it is a tricky situation. I can feel for Muppet when your "baby" goes down and is a loss. But it's also tough to put all the blame on DJI and mistrusting them when it's a "he said, she said" type of situation. DJI can't go around giving out new drones everytime...

    Photo clarity with mavic question

I too have found that both the RAW and JPEG are pretty much the same when you start "pixel peeping" and zoom in. Try checking out this thread: Better stills from the Mavic It takes some time, but it does help improve the image.

    Alligator in Everglades miami

If I am not mistaken, Everglades is a national park. Drones are not allowed to take off and land in a national park (I think technically you can do a flyover). So it's actually illegal to start your flight from within a National Park. However, I'm not from the USA, so maybe someone from Florida...

    Alligator in Everglades miami

Be careful. You just flew in a place that you aren't supposed too. Then you put up the video with your name and picture in it.

    Better stills from the Mavic

Yes. You are correct. I was reading that off my video settings

    Better stills from the Mavic

If I'm just shooting stills I will rarely use filters to be honest. There is only a few situations where I would put a filter on, and usually an ND 4 or 8 only. Usually when I know I have parts of the photo that are just going to be too blown out if I try and get other parts of the photo to be...

THE "5 REASONS I’M ALLOWED TO FLY HERE" CARD

I had the same type of problem in England. Trying to take some photos of Leeds Castle. I knew that the site itself is a NFZ, so I drove about a mile and half away, found a nice road near a field, and planned to take off go out a few hundred feet over the field and take some images with Leeds...

    Better stills from the Mavic

Since you uploaded from the Ipad, I wondering if you are giving the "straight from camera" image, or if there is any processing? I think you did great. Composition is good. I like the sunset, you managed to really get some good colour on it. Shadows are a bit dark, but that isn't easy to get...

    Learning to take photos

I think that maybe you missed a big point of this. Perhaps just saying it in a different tone would have been better. We are all here trying to learn and share. Putting out the "you're wrong, I'm right" attitude doesn't help. Take a look at the world of photography. Many "rules of...

    Learning to take photos

Beg to differ. There are so many factors involved. Yes, crappy filters with crappy glass will degrade your photos. Good filters on the other hand can improve your photos. I originally started as a photographer, so yes I do understand what an ND, and CPL filter is, it's purpose, and when to...
