A solution to using a phone in its case

I 3D printed my solution. Metal plate in my phone case, magnetic mount. Been using it for the last year.

How does one do 3D printing? Do you need to do coding to be able to design your product? I imagine you have to pour nylon pellets into the top of a bulky printer.
