Top congress members of a Southwestern US coastal/waterfront state have begun petitioning the FAA to require remote ID's to be installed on all flight capable birds weighing over 3 lbs.
Sources say they plan to implement the program before 2024.
The task will be monumental, and the first of its kind.
Proponents of the California bill plan to capture, and install remote ID's on every large predatory bird in the state.
They expect to include all waterfowl and may eventually lead to requiring the remote ID's on short flight birds such as chickens and turkeys as well.
Migratory birds such as ducks and geese will be required to wear the transponders while inside California airspace.
Opponents estimate the the $700 billion dollar project will accomplish absolutely nothing, while the experts say the benefit of jobs created will far outweigh the cost of the largest exercise in futility ever known to mankind.
Starting in late 2022, the first emails will begin going out to all condors and bald eagles in the hopes that they might show up voluntarily to selected aviaries to receive their beacons.
After December 1st 2024, California and the FAA plan to impose fines of $10,000 dollars, and up to a year in prison to every bird found to be in violation.
One key senator (on the grounds of anonymity) believes the fines alone may pay for the entire program.
