Intelligent flight mode: Trace v Spotlight

Can someone explain the differences in these two modes and recommend situations where you would use one or the other?

I realize POI circles a static point and profile takes a "side shot" but these two seem pretty much identical.

Spotlight will stay in one position but track the subject with the camera. Trace will move with the subject while keeping them in view

Gotcha. So if you were to be filming surfers, trace would probably be preferable?

Also, in spotlight, what does "course lock" mean?

Yes trace would be best. Course lock will focus on the subject but you can move the mavic and the camera will keep pointing at the subject. I think it might only be in a straight line though

Edit sorry course lock means it will move in the direction you move the stick no mater which way it is facing
