I was filming the front of a ship today and was slowing reversing and panning the gimbal down so I could see the Bulbous Bow cutting the water and it had the effect where it looks like the BB is coming out from under the ship like Pinocchio's nose. Is there a name for this specific effect other then REVEAL? Thanks.

Are you filming pornos now? That's not a Pinocchio nose! That's a ship getting ready for mating! Must have been very attracted to your drone! LOL!

That's the "Moby D*ck" Shot! HAH!
Also known as the "Money Shot!"
Very "revealing!"

Doesn't need a name, I like it without one.

Would of been nice had you gotten down lower to get the whole front has you back up, and ascend ?

OK in all seriousness have Googled the kit and as you say most big ships these days have bow noses to dissipate the bow wave especially when travelling slowly around ports where a big bow wave might upset smaller boats. They also improve cruising performance for fuel etc by between 12 and 15%. I can’t find anything about hydraulically applied bow noses but do I see some small blue hatch covers at the base of the nose from where perhaps the big nose extends. This might make sense as the nose might need to be retracted in certain circumstances. Whatever it is the shot is brilliant and so interesting. There must be a retired ships Captain on our books?

I agree with twickers 14. I also see that crew member checking you out above. Awesome shot, very cool.
Google BULBOUS BOW DIAGRAM for more information.
