Thanks, didn't know that. Just check the one I got back from the MP hospital after a crash and the 5th character is a "E". Anyone else want to chime in.

It kinda makes sense, since the 5th character is the built year (D=2016, E=2017, F=2018). If it's refurbished, the build year is not necessarily valid anymore? I guess it'll be those who have bought or received a refurbished unit can verify. I had my Mavic replaced by DJI, but there's no R in the SN; front, end or middle.

very interesting, so, we really can't tell by the SN if it is refurbished.

i guess DJI had dealt with too many owners insisting on getting a new one instead of a refurbished one (under warranty or care refresh), to the point there's people being aggressive to their customer service employees demanded a new one and wanting to send back a working refurbished one. Their refurbished stock was probably piling up. so perhaps easier to remove the identifiers.
