I purchased a Mini 4 Pro (along with the "basic" Remote Controller) a few months ago, and have not had any issues.
After tiring of always having to attach my cellphone to the top of the RC, decided to spend the $$ and buy the RC 2 (which has the screen built-in).
It arrived today. I charged it, but am unable to sync the two. I'm positive it is an RC 2, which is supposed to be compatible with the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3.
Here is what I am doing to sync (per the instructions):

Here is what I am doing to sync (per the instructions):
- I have already charged and powered-on the RC 2.
- Entered all the login info into the RC 2 with my account on DJI, answered all the other questions (about location & time zone, etc). That was all successful.
- Tapped on "Connection Guide", waited for it to time out (saying "Searching for aircraft"), now says "Unable to connect to aircraft?"
- Tapped on blue "Unable to connect to aircraft" at bottom.
- It shows to "Press and hold the power button for 4 seconds until the aircraft beeps to indicate it is in pairing mode. Complete.
- It shows Tap Pair to start pairing the remote controller to the aircraft. Complete.
- The aircraft battery level LEDs are flashing back and forth to show it is in pairing mode. The RC 2 beeped for about 15 seconds (annoying) and shows "Pairing" while counting down.
- RC 2 shows "Pairing unsuccessful"
