It's Wild West with drones right now. Enjoy. It probably will not last, unfortunately, because thousands of drone flyers, who feel they have a right to fly just because they can, will not and cannot control themselves.

For many of us, safety, common sense, and even common courtesy take a back seat, if ithey have a seat at all, to cool videos. Laws and regulations are flouted. A serious incident or even a disaster seems inevitable.

Then the next step will be even more restrictions, combined with commercial products that support electronic jamming and capture of drones in restricted airspace. When that happens, it will happen overnight, and the Wild West will end.

Until then, if you see fit to do so, be courteous, and safe above all else. Help us enjoy this time for as long as possible.

Them is fightin' words pardner, gonna be a drone-down at noon.

But seriously, agree one should always be courteous and safe, but in reality there's always going to be bad drone flyers. Just look at cars, over a million people killed every year because people aren't driving safely and can't follow the rules. Keep flying (safely) while I can, and see where it all goes!

Inevitable to an extent. Probably not overnight. Cameras are stupid cheap and deter theft yet slow to saturate our field of view, but yes it too is coming. Drones are especially worrisome because of their capabilities to do bad not just see all. They can deliver smallish amounts of evil and that can be terrifying to people like politicians or authority etc. Imaginations run wildly. Massive restrictions won't come from joey smucker flying over people, hell we let people drink in the bar and drive off in a 4-7000 pound human crusher, it will come from billy bomber that wants to strap a gun or c4 on it and assassinate a regulator. Suprised there isn't a Las Vegas odds chart?
Equiptment meant to deter drones will be expensive to buy maintain and the cost of training let alone employing a monkey to sit and watch for a drone will be prohibitive for most. Not to mention there are sooo many intelligent heads out there that delight in thwarting such measures. There are those that live for such challenge.
My point being those who fly responsibly will continue to do so. Those who don't wont and that will never change nor is it new or proprietary to this sport. There is far more at stake than simply flying where your not supposed to be.

Yep , people keep arguing that this and that are just suggestions and not a law or the regulation is vague . Don't worry , the FAA will eventually clear it all up :(
