I recall you've posted an extensive amount of feedback on this topic. I don't recall any mentions of heinous processes though. The process we're discussing in this thread is certainly not heinous. However, it may be confusing or cumbersome for some.

I don't see anything despicable about protecting DJI drone owners from theft. If DJI allowed any used drone to be activated by whoever had it at the time, it would undoubtedly encourage more thefts and resales.
