I started like that. There’s a couple of good YouTube tutorials on stick practice. They help with confidence.

I would definitely recommend flying in open spaces without obstacles to begin. If you’re new to drone flying, take time to get comfortable with the controls and your ability before becoming adventurous. Enjoy!

Here in Australia, many of our patrolled beaches are using drone technology to scan for shark sightings. Much cheaper than helicopters.

That wasn’t my experience but not to say this doesn’t happen - mine seemed to be a one-off and hasn’t happened again since.

I have used B4UFLY when travelling and also the DJI Geo site maps for local airports for planning. Within Oz I also have Skydio 2+ 😉

Got to admit I don’t fly Jetstar, but no issues with QANTAS and Virgin. Sounds like you don’t have transport to get around. Your radius around the main TSV airport will mean the Strand and Magnetic Island likely won’t be allowed.

Did you keep the Air 2 as a backup/spare?

Battery transport isn’t an issue for airlines. I guess it depends on where in the TSV area you are planning to go as to military bases.

I’ve grounded my drone given the hot weather and high humidity - the only time I’ve noticed any battery swelling was with my trusty Air 1 in summer. Interesting you don’t think the Mini 3Pro wouldn’t fare well around the coastline. I agree there can be high winds at times.

Could it be that I took the drone out of a nice warm car and then had it flying within a few minutes with a reasonable temperature difference? If so, I should give some time to acclimatise before flying next time?
