Yeah, there's no course lock for the Mavic Air ( Why no course lock? ) However, the functionality sounds like the same as Tap to Fly, Free option. I will give it a shot this weekend and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your help!

Ok so that first method is tap to fly free I believe .. I wasn't sure if it would maintain a straight camera path but just saw a video that said it was ... pretty amazing that it can work given that the camera cannot rotate independently of the yaw! Now I need to look at the spotlight...

Is there a mode in which I can fly in a straight line past an object while the camera remains locked on to the object? Thanks in advance for any help.

1. Today was my second day of flying and I got a CPU overload message when my Air, Steve, was 300ft overhead ... within a minute I got the dreaded death spiral on my iPhone and it crashed. I thought WTF#! Then I calmed myself thinking that if I press the return to home button on the remote...

I think I might just execute on my plan this weekend. I'm flying a Mavic Air. Nice way to win over your neighbor! If you get agreement with the property owners along the Potomac count me in! The kayak might be considered operating from a vehicle which is not allowed I think.

Thanks for the notes. I think I'll bring my level of detail up to match yours the next time I leave a message with JYO. BTW on a future occasion I would like to try and fly along westward along the northwestern edge of the park ... that extends beyond the designated launching and landing area...

First ever drone flight this past Sunday @ Ida Lee Rec Center, Leesburg, VA

Just outside the 5mile radius for Loudoun Hospital where I was on Sunday. I called the hospital in Leesburg and got a standing approval .. going to follow-up with standing email approval. I called the airport twice but did not get through so I left a message with my intent to fly

I'll be doing my first flight tomorrow @ Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. The have a fairly large takeoff and landing site. Their website says you have to submit paperwork to get a permit but they confirmed over the phone that hobbyists don't need to complete that. We just need to call Leesburg...
