Solar Flares - did anyone notice ?

Was expecting big KPs this evening, so popped up to the top field just now to repeat the test above. This time I went to a bigger, more open field than my back garden, and indeed GPS results were correspondingly better. This time we found 20 satellites in the first minute, and they remained...

Solar Flares - did anyone notice ?

As I write this (South East UK, 1 pm) KP index currently up in the 8's, the highest I have ever seen it in this country since I started flying ! So I popped outside with my Mini4P to get the lay of the land without actually taking off. And I am glad I didn't. Sitting in my back garden with an...

Solar Flares - did anyone notice ?

On UAV forecast, KP is up at 4.67 from tomorrow night and into Monday, though it's higher than 'normal' for most of Sunday too, moreso latterly. Important to remember that KP doesn't just affect the number of satellites that your craft sees, but also may, and I quote 'change the propagation...

    Pro Mountain down, by drone...

As I said in the first post, source not given in any of the footage I have seen.

    Pro Mountain down, by drone...

It's been a terrible day for the people of the village of Blatten in Switzerland, as half the mountain their town sits beneath has fallen off it ! I have been watching the events leading up to this known-to-be-imminent glacier collapse for a week now, and today it dropped the motherload...

Mandated National Security Risk Assessment of DJI drones

Then, and correct me if I am wrong, we shouldn't be relying on its 'facts' should we ?! There is sometimes quite a gap between what those things say and the truth / what is actually correct I find... alas I don't have time today to double check its findings...

Mini 5 Pro: What all that know…knows so far.

The bigger sensor obviously appeals, and more powerful motors, addressing the current Min4P's weakness in wind a bit, hopefully. But the other stuff is mainly QoL stuff I can probably live without or don't particularly need (LIDAR / pop on props etc) so I'll watch with interest but probably will...

    3 Inside the tornado

Not my video alas ! :) That's the OTUS project, and apprently that's the second tornado they have flown into with their custom FPV / plane hybrid thing ! There are a few very low res pics of the craft dotted around the net, but nothing I have found that shows any detail...

    3 Inside the tornado

Some very ambitious footage from a custom built FPV rig that had FAA approval for some close-up tornado investigations ! Obviously the prefix for this post will be wrong, because there is no option for FPV / Custom.

Solar Flares - did anyone notice ?

Saw an interesting update from Coastal Drones warning about 'X class' solar flare activity (which I had never heard of). That was apparently on May 13th / 14th. Anybody have any GPS related weirdness that day ? It did apparently take a power network down, so not the 'normal' sort of minimal...

Oh of course :) Silly me ! Thanks.

    Bootstrap and instrument calibration...

Thanks, yes, I've seen that. I meant rather where is the power button on the actual drone, should you have this functionality turned off ?! I only ask because it doesn't seem to be where they usually are on the top !

    Bootstrap and instrument calibration...

I thought it did, but don't think I've seen a clip that shows me the power button yet - where is it located ?

    Bootstrap and instrument calibration...

I have been watching a lot of the Mavic 4 Pro videos, and notice something common to most of them that makes me curious. Everyone seems gloriously enthusiastic about the auto-power on feature of both the RCP2 and the drone itself. But I was always taught that we should start drones stationary...
