HOWDY! Newby with a question about non-cinema-quality drones...

I distantly recall watching a video that mentioned an exception to the VLOS rule when doing active track and riding a bike ? Or did I dream that ?

HOWDY! Newby with a question about non-cinema-quality drones...

Fortunately most 360 or action cams come with 3 battery pack options these days, so OP could easily cover his ride time even on big extended trips. My old Osmo Action 3 gets up to 2 hours on a single pack if I'm lucky.

HOWDY! Newby with a question about non-cinema-quality drones...

Yeah, if you need 90 minutes of recording I can't help thinking drones are not the way to go. I have seen some great 'drone-looking' results people have got attaching an action cam (with in-cam stabilisation) to a selfie pole, and then mounting that on the rear of the bike frame so it follows...

Mini 4 Pro Harting Down Ridge Glides

You may well be right about that - but my objection to all this is the sheer senselessness of it. If there is going to be rule that confines drone pilots to 400 ft, there should be another one that confines manned aviation to 500 ft+ wherever drones could be !

Mini 4 Pro Harting Down Ridge Glides

Well there were people and animals on the ground, and planes and heli's are not meant to be low over parks and rec type areas like this one was. It didn't appear to be doing a TO or landing. Very frustrating that the camera didn't get it, but what can ya do ? :/

    DJI Battery Error Codes Reference

I'm sure this will be here on the site already somewhere, but my searches didn't find it, so copying here. Much more detail on those battery error code lights than in the manual ! (Graphic courtesy of Drone DJ)

DJI prop guards with plus battery

Interesting. I'll see if mine is able to detect the tiny weight of an additional strobe next week. Hopefully that will be too light for it to notice !

How does it know that ?!

    Waypoints aren't very precise

Are you familiar with Bezier curves and B-splines ? 'Cos that's what way points are doing. They take the straight lines between positions you input at the planning stage, and transform them into B--spline control points , generating a smooth curved line that averages / interpolates between the...

    Low voltage emergency landing

Unfortunately the screenshot doesn't show us voltage levels, but it does, as you say show you back at 87%. But it also shows that at the time of the screenshot you were slowly descending and not moving very fast, so whatever sag had potentially caused the low voltage error had passed, and the...

    Low voltage emergency landing

    1. How cold a day was it ? 2. How old are those battery packs / how many cycles on them ? Most insights to what caused this should be available in the flight logs and on the battery status page within DJI Fly app. We need to know what the cell voltage levels were doing, before, at the time of...

The tutorial videos make it look so easy

Nice to know the Mini had you covered in most of the ***-saving departments. Now if only they would let us have those helpful nav lights flashing while camera was recording we'd be able to see it against the treeline as well !

    How many drone related fatalities?

Well I am talking primarily about the UK, so it's the CAA I'm referring to. Oh I would be embarrassed to even try - I don't have any facts to report ! Only (if I am lucky) the flight number, and reported altitude, and the aircraft type. All other data is either not available to me, not visible...

    How many drone related fatalities?

I have wanted to report literally hundreds over the years ! Their continued habitual abuse of the 500 ft rule in skies near me seems to me to be entirely unsupervised and unchecked - like the FAA and CAA know it's going on but couldn't care less, and are uninterested in the concerns of UAV...
