I agree 100%. I started off with a cheap Syma X5 about 8 years ago.
DJI technology is great for doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Holding the drone stable so that you can concentrate on getting the photo's and video that you want.
However a drone without any flying aids is much more...
The last sentence of your comment hits the nail on the head. It is actually the built in barometer that maintains the altitude that the drone is flying at. The GPS really only maintains latitude and longitude and it not accurate for altitude hold at all. The problem arises when there is a sudden...
Very well done.
I am with scro on the faster panning shot. I tend to edit them out.
I also like to keep myself hidden and not in the video and would have stood in the trees at the side of the field but maybe that is just my preference.
Again. Excellent stuff.
I live next to a sailing club on a lake that has a live wind speed App that gives the actual wind speed in real time. I often compare it to what the UAV App forecasts and they are very seldom in sync. The actual wind speed is very often almost double what the UAV App forecasts it to be...
My Mavic Mini nearly always come up with Compass calibration required every time I fire it up in a different location to the one I last flew at.
I therefore just do it. Pretty quick and easy especially with the Litchi App that has voice prompts.
Some interesting comments and points of view.
My Laptop is an I5 with only 8GB Ram so I have always just used 1080p 30fps with all my drones. I find that the video is quick and easy to edit and process, whereas I know that if I shot in 4k it would not be the case. I find that 1080p's quality is...
"Wow, I won a prize in a competition!!", only joking. My wife pretty much knows me by now after 38 years of been married.
But then there is the old joke. "When I die, I hope that my wife does not sell my drones/motorcycles/fishing tackle for what I told her that they cost"
Then there is the...
I am using Adobe Premiere Elements. It is a much cheaper version of Premiere Pro and the only difference is that it does not have as many features (Effects etc). However it has the same processing speed and more features than I will ever use or want. Like all Adobe products, is that once you...
The only thing I can think of is WiFi interference. Have your placed your phone in Airplane mode? It could be that your phone's WiFi is causing the problem between between the WiFi signal your controller and the drone. My first drone was a Phantom 3 Standard and that also had Wifi transmission...
I as also considering getting a lens hood to reduce flare but I watched a video review that showed quite clearly that the Mini's one is not very effective for this. Probably not quite long enough like a normal camera's lens hood. However I do agree that it might help protect the gimbal if you crash.
The drone uses several tools to keep it in place and stable. The tool that controls stable altitude is the built in barometer, which works pretty well as I have another drone that has altitude hold only and has no other aids. However if atmospheric pressure changes while you are flying, which is...
Birds see the drone as a predator and in their world attack is the best form of defense. I have had this happen often in a spot where I fly on the coast with seagulls. I have observed a large bird of prey that is resident in the same area and when it flys around, the gulls behave in exactly the...
As a fellow Kayaker, I have a fishing kayak) the most risky part of your plan is hand catching it. If you have to lunge or even stretch far to catch it, you might both land up in the water.
