Its is possible to remoe the 500m altitude limit on the mini 3 pro, but not on the mini 3. Why? Its basicly the same drone other than that the mini 3 pro have obsticle avoidence scensors.

i think it would definelty work to make a 2-5x zoom camera, just look at this phone, and its 6 years old:

one of the things i was most dissapointed with the mini 3 is the zoom. 2x zoom in 4k is worthless and low quality. is it possible to have some adapter/add on lens or even change camera completley?

But longer flight time means heavier drone, so its hard to chose and calculate the risk/reward between a 6500mah and a 8500mha. If the risk was like 50% higher to damage the drone when using a 8500 mha battery i would chose the 6500 one.
