I'm using Sandisk Extreme in mine (the thirty quid one) with no problems at all so I'd go for that one.

Litchi runs fine for me on two devices - Galaxy Note 4 and Acer Iconia 0ne 7 tablet. I think the Acer would be the cheapest (around £100 in UK) but you need to ensure you are getting the version with the Mediatek processor. Apparently Litchi doesn't play well with Intel.

The mavic really is the least of your problems if you want to be paranoid. Just think of all those games consoles, TV's, phones, video cameras, stills cameras, laptops, tablets, and watches just crammed with Chinese technology. Then you can move on to the routers, switches and other networking...

After a bit of digging I have found out that if I force close Go4 two processes remain in the background. slowly eating memory. I can't comment on data usage as my android tablet does not have a SIM. I can kill these two processes using developer options and everything appears to work well...

Is it android? I know that on android you can get apps that will stop it running in the background but on iPhone I haven't a clue.

I'd second resolve 12.5 - it's free and is very, very capable software plus there are tons of tutorials on youtube. Prepare yourself for a bit of a learning curve but it's good fun and doesn't take too long to pick up.

On the mission hub one of the actions you can assign to a waypoint is 'Stay Here', you then assign a time period in seconds. I've tried assigning 60 and 120 and neither of them worked - the app failed to upload the route to the Mavic. When I assigned 12 it worked. Does anyone know the maximum...

Just live in the UK, everything you do is on camera. The Chinese are welcome to my footage and GPS data, they can't be any worse than the maniacs we currently have running the show.....

I'd be a lot more worried about all those Chinese chips inside practically every router in the world than them mapping the USA - they'll have satellites for that.
