Disagree. Most people are honest. The need for Remote ID is because a few are not.

I'm in the US and have a Mini 3 Pro which I have not updated to include RID. If I get the Mini 4 Pro does that mean any Karen can use an app to get my location while I'm flying? Or are there only certain apps used by law enforcement that can do that?

I'm also on legacy firmware. I'm not convinced that any additional features would be worth broadcasting information about me, especially when I am a recreational flyer flying a drone that is under 250g.

I am recreational and under 250g, so hopefully I'll be able to continue flying without RID. Thanks.

LOL do you think these people who would beat you up and take your drone would do so in order to go fly it themselves? Somehow I think they would be much more likely to destroy it or sell it.

So presumably this update puts things in place, but in the future there will be some mechanism to activate it. I wonder if there will be an automatic mechanism which determines if you stayed at 249g and under. I can't imagine they would leave that up to the drone operator . . .

With the new update does it actually turn on RID, or just make it compatible eg in case you're using the extended battery? One of the reasons I like the Mini 3 Pro is it's not supposed to be subject to RID with the standard battery, correct?

Point is not that 'this is fine'. A large part of fixing a problem is identifying the cause.
