The Federal requirements are defined by NIST SP 800-88, and one option is to overwrite the data to eliminate recovery. That allows the media to be reused. -

Cheating is now a national activity. What if we are given enough stock for free to be the second largest stock holder and a board spot on the board of Unusual Machines a drone startup. Or get a large airplane for "free", or a bit coin in our name... -
