Neither would have any effect on connecting to a wi-fi network (not needed to fly the drone) or connecting your controller to the drone or signing into your DJI account.

The software would be the easiest part. Keeping a quad drone flying was a problem solved years ago. Litchi did apps with more features, and they are based in the UK. Their app used DJI libraries, but none of it was rocket science.

I would guess that they are using the same sensors as their handheld cameras. The largest sensors that they are using are the 1/1.28" dual sensors in their X5 cameras. That is the same size as the dual sensors in A1.
