I think his point being is, he really shouldn't need to do this, if he does then there's clearly something defective with the drone. Get in touch with DJI OP, it still has its warranty and this sounds to be a warranty issue, hoping you get it sorted soon.

Just to add to this, I've never experienced any issues with my antenna in the 300+ flights I've made with this modded antenna. The antenna cost me £379, so this was an expensive mod to fly my expensive toy...

Thanks for your detailed analysis. I think the best thing for me to do, would be to update the firmware on both my drone and controller, then do a new calibration, then do a small test flight in the open and not fly it far, if I do this with all 3 of my batteries and there's no more disconnects...
