I agree about the proximity alerts; rather obnoxious. I just upgraded to the RC2 from the N2 and assumed that I can just turn the volume down. I haven't had the opportunity to test that theory. Are the proximity alerts adjusted by the master volume control?

Compare the image you see through the gimbal cam to the prox warning cams. The un-stabilized image in the prox cams is doing some serious dancing while the gimbal cam is rock solid. That's all I really care about. As long as I can take off and land, I'm not too worried about the aircraft...
