Update on my request. The FAA contact came back to see if I thought I would fly there again and I said yes as it is a great place to fly. A few days I received a 2 year authorization to fly in the area. Wow. In the end it was a great experience using Drone Zone.

I hope you have better luck than I have getting an authorization approved for an area where LAANC is not yet available. The FAA was fairly quick to respond to my online request but only to say the request was sent to the airport manager / tower. It has been weeks, still waiting...
