If not too late, I would suggest just get the regular S9. The battery is much better (I own both and have used them for flying for a while now).
With refurbished phones, its pretty much a lottery, the same way any new mass produced item is. Just find a dral which you can afford (to lose) and go...
Respectfully, if I may add one thing. Do not absolutely attempt to take off from a moving boat. Winds can play havoc with take off and especially landing.
Learned my lesson hard!
You should not be able to. I mean, the rules still apply no? One could argue that there are no people below and that there are no planes/fly zones in cities but rules are rules and they are there for a reason (even though some are just insane).
I personally would love to fly and capture my...
Great Video and thanks for sharing; I recognise some of the sights and yeah, I need to do one of these. I'be nee living there for sometime yet never done a night tour.
Hi Ilonfull,
The Thai government regulator actually mandates each and every drone operator in Thailand - including recreational and irrespective of size - get registered with them and be issued a certificate (single sheet if paper) which says the drones registered. It's pretty painless and at...
Enjoy Thailand; and the guys above pointed you in the right direction. In 2018, when the government had a massive push to register each and every drone in Thailand, it was a bit of an issue but now it's quieted down and I just take mine as carry on for all internal flights (I live in Thailand)...
Depends on the airline as well. Batteries as most have said go in the carry on but on Emirates, they request you to inform them if you have one and also insist you check it in. There is chance they could confiscate it while passing through Dubai if you do not although I have not heard of this...
Great quick tips as always.
I would add - specifically for Thailand - that No. 3, No. 5 and No.7 on this list are absolutely key! This will save you a lot of time and energy and possibly a confiscated drone while here.
As long as you stick to the rules/guidelines, it's a magical place to fly...
Welcome to Thailand!
It's such an amazing place to travel and fly but do your research beforehand and you should be ok.
Apologies in case I make assumptions, but just know you will not be allowed to fly over the amazing temples etc, but if you have an Osmo, its alright.
In the remote areas...
Actually, they do not confiscate them. I've travelled with mine lots of times and while the application/enforcement of Kenya's policy on UAVs is still sketchy, for recreational drones you can take them through. This was the applicable a few months back when I went through.
So unless the...
I think for those in this thread who have tried it including me are getting zero disconnects/interference with Airplane mode on. There was that guy who had an issue with the cable though.
If you don't mind spending the extra money, go for an iOS device otherwise try a few flights on airplane...
Not sure I follow but I have never needed a map since I fly mostly by the beach and in the countryside where there's literally no one hence not that many flights. Can be hard to find day where there is no one.
But yeah, this seemed to work for me and no disconnection yet .
Sorry for the late response. I've flown there a couple of times and as you can imagine, the regulations are not super clear. I've stayed away from crowds, airports etc. The usual common sense type of stuff.
I'd say ask permission where you know people would mind and always launch from a safe...
