New Jersey Drone Sightings May Not Be Drones. By Professor Will Austin.

People from all over are posting videos online. However this hysteria started in the NJ area. Most people in the rest of the country aren't really out there looking (yet) but there are videos from other parts of the country and even the world. People are reporting it from NYC. For some reason it...

New Jersey Drone Sightings May Not Be Drones. By Professor Will Austin.

I find the whole situation rather interesting and bizarre. I agree with others here that I have yet to see a single video or photo that shows dozens of drones. Showing a single or few lights in the sky in some of the busiest airspace in the nation doesn't really prove them to be drones...

New Jersey Drone Sightings May Not Be Drones. By Professor Will Austin.

Eyewitness reports are incredibly inaccurate. Most people can't accurately communicate what they saw or said 5 minutes ago.

Severe drone registration restrictions for foreigners in Canada

I have a unique situation here that this thread doesn't really cover but I don't necessarily want to start a new thread. Not sure if anyone else is in this situation. I am a Canadian citizen living in the USA (also have US Citizenship). I will be traveling to Canada and have researched the new...

Remote ID -- When Added to DJI Fly App?

I recall a few years ago I was in the airspace of Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. I got LAANC Approval but the drone was restricted. I recall having to do something to unlock the geo lock on the drone. It wasn't a quick process.

Make sure you also update your FAA registration for the drone on DroneZone.

Remote ID -- When Added to DJI Fly App?

I beleive the Smart Controller runs v1.12.3 of the DJI Fly app. At least that is what mine upgraded to with my Air 2 when I did firmware updates last week for RID.

    Mavic Air 2 Remote ID

Okay. It looks like I was able to update the Fly app version and it now shows 1.16.3 and I now see a "Remote ID SN"

    Mavic Air 2 Remote ID

It looks like I have the same setup. Air 2 and Smart Controller. It seems my Fly App Version is 1.9.4 is out of date. It told me yesterday that a new app version was available and it would download, but I don't know if it ever installed. Where do you find the Remote ID info to register with the FAA?

    Mavic Air 2 Remote ID

I haven't used my Mavic Air 2 in quite a while but plan to take it on a trip next week so I pulled it out a couple weeks ago to see if there needed to be any updates made. I installed a couple of updates and then I packed it back up. Now that I am closer to the trip I wanted to make sure...

    Pilot checklist

That checklist is just some generic checklist, not one of the ones that I have created within Aloft online.

    Pilot checklist

Yeah, I can see the checklists I previously created in the online account but nothing in the app. I can even edit them through web browser. I also don't see any data on previously logged checklists or maintenance. I downloaded the quick reference guide and it doesn't provide any information...

Smart controller in Authorization zones help

I flew once in a DJI Geofenced Authorization Zone. I fly with the Smart Controller and the Mavic Air 2. IIRC, I was able to do a self unlock (blue zone) through the self unlock website. I then did have to connect my Smart Controller to Wifi. I also then had to turn on the drone and download the...

Air 2s Sunrise over the Statue of Liberty

I was wondering the same thing. When I look at the whole area on B4UFly, the entire Hudson River from the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and all the way north to Yonkers shows as restriction operations.

Night Flight question, just to be sure....

So let me get this straight. Recreational drones don't require a strobe but part 107 do? Does that make sense? Isn't a drone in the sky a drone in the sky, regardless of who is flying it?
