You don’t need a data/internet connection to fly. But you could use you phone as a WiFi hotspot and then connect your iPad to the phone to get data/internet.

With my Mavic Air I do the panorama via the go app. Then take sd card from drone and put in goggles. Go to local storage on googles and play. Are your googles at the latest firmware? The thumbnail icon on googles shows the panorama icon in lower right corner. Good luck.

There is no way to have both connected at the same time with the air thou. I have to test swapping back to phone from goggles while in the air. Not worried about battery and failure. Same could happen on RC. Also waiting to see if they implement home lock mode with the air. Saved my butt a few...

Sorry. Seemed to have missed your question. Yes, I don’t because it is easier to control where there may be pressure on screen and possibly crack since it doesn’t move around like it could in the zippered pocket.

You don’t have to take off with app on phone, just the way I do it. You just need to have the phone connected and app launched to remove restrictions. Then unplug phone from side. Googles will connect and you can use to take off as well.
