I had a similar problem. I had created and flown a couple of missions with Maven and my Mini 2. I went out this morning and created a simple mission in my backyard, but when I executed it, the drone acted very strangely. It shot up about 20 feet, spun arround and headed in the wrong direction...

Try flying without the prop guards. When I put the prop guards on my mini, payload mode limits my distance to 164 feet.

I had the problem on both my MM1 and MM2, so it's not the firmware. The problem went away on my MM2 after an IMU calibration.
