Law Question: Can a City Commission arbitrarily make rules regulating Drones without FAA approval?

If you purchased a legal representation policy, then flew and got ticketed or arrested you could fight it and most likely win. I know AMA members get an insurance policy, but I believe it may only cover liability.

    landing pad

The problem with metal is it can cause the compass to read wrong. In this case the metal would be equidistant in all directions with the drone in the center. It cannot cause a bad reading if the drone is centered.

You might check the SD card to see if they left contact information on the card.

Cancelled our trip to Costa Rica

Go online, either their website or download their flydelta app. Choose manage my flight and then cancel it. They hit me with a cancelation fee when I did this, but I sent them a complaint msg and got an email back about a week later saying they would credit my entire flight cost towards a future...

    Hospital Helipads

Most hospitals have no control over helicopters other than allowing them to land. The pilots of each aircraft are responsible for coordinating with each other if there is more than one in the area. I was responsible for relocation of a helipad at a hospital I worked at in Missouri in the 90's...

    -41c

I have installed and worked on -40c walk-in freezers. Almost every aspect is specifically engineered for these temps. Grease in motor bearings turns to glue and won't lubricate. Motors need internal heaters. Air pressure differences sucks water into electronics. (Condensed from the air) Parts...

    Taking drone on international flight?

Remove the props and put them in a separate bag. I have a hard case and I pack my 35 mm camera in the same case so when asked it's photographic equipment.

    MicroSD card speeds

Does your reader have a blue insert in the USB A plug. Most USB 3.0 capable readers have blue in the plug end. If not that's your slow down to USB 2 speeds.

UPDATED: Mavic Pro Platinum flying again after seawater submersion

Even a tiny amount of salt left behind will eventually corrode the electronics. Drying with dessicants doesn't remove it. Rinsing the boards with 0 residue solvents helps but doesn't get it all.

Cessna almost hit my drone yesterday

If I am not mistaken he is allowed to be at low altitude over water. So it's a case of see and avoid with you having to yield to the manned aircraft.

Mavic 2 unlock - any news?

Someone else here posted that if you land then take off again it resets the home point and altitude.

    I feel lucky...very lucky

It looks to me as though it was the water vapor from the cooling towers that stopped the drone. It stopped when it was thick and obscuring the picture slightly then proceeded when it thinned out.

8 MILE DRONE FLIGHT!!! | Mavic 2 Desert Max Range Test

Fairly certain use of binoculars is not permitted under VLOS rules because one of the reasons for requiring VLOS is to stay out of the way of other aircraft and narrowing your vision down with binoculars makes your situational awareness poor.
