Sorry not to have responded sooner. In answer to the question "Do you recall exactly what you did to initiate RTH?" - Yes, I tapped the RTH icon on the screen - nothing more. I absolutely did not see the "Select Return Position" message shown in the screenshot above.

It all happened so quickly!

There isn't a cancel button as far as I am aware but I suppose with hindsight I should have pressed the pause button and then ran towards its last known location to see if I could spot it hovering.

Thank you so much for your analysis - does this mean that the gps in my (new and expensive) mobile phone may be too unreliable to ever use with the controller or could this be a one-off event?

It did not give me an option and in any event I had not moved an inch from the launch point - so home point and current location would presumably have been the same.. I had certainly been nowhere near the randomly generated home point which was out of the park and 500 yards up the road in...

I assume you are talking about the event at 1m 54.8s? I had brought the drone into a hover and was scanning the horizon. I did nothing other than slew the drone to an approximately NE direction when I initiated the RTH. I did not enter any of the settings or map view. I still do not understand...
