I'm loaning a friend my Mavic 2 Pro, and wondering, if he changes settings, will those be stored on his phone, or will he be changing my settings in the controller? Not basic camera settings, but more like drone prefs.

Well, it didn't cause any damage, and doesn't need to be towed away or anything. My registration number is still on the drone, so even with FAA registration cancelled, I'm pretty sure it could still be traced to me. As I said in OP, my concern is someone else getting it, and causing trouble...

I did have true VLOS and control. I can't imagine it disturbed wildlife, it crashed in a tree, within 50 yards or so of a highway. I don't have precise coordinates, but know roughly where it is. I'll consider notifying the forest service, thanks for the reply.

That occurred to me, though the battery is definitely drained, so not sure if it's a fire hazard or not--possibly?

I've had my Mavic 2 Pro for a couple years, rarely if ever calibrating the gimbal, but lately it's been getting misaligned (crooked horizon) often. At my last shoot, it happened 2 or 3 times: horizon was crooked, I ran calibration, then it was fine. I haven't had any collisions or anything...

Right, the RC was powered on while connected to PC. What does "AC" stand for? I did tap on the error message; at one point it said ESC error 3, and after a restart the "3" went away, with just general ESC status error. Thanks.

I thought it would be unlikely that the controller would be the issue, but seemed worth a try to avoid the cost and delay of getting a repair...but good to know that it's definitely not the controller.

Thanks Iannes. I was able to refresh the drone's firmware, but still getting esc error. I wasn't able to refresh controller firmware though...I connected controller to my Macbook with the usb-c cable that came with controller, that connects to side of controller to USB-C; also tried another...
