12-15 years ago I got involved with drones which at that time were mostly kits. I was involved with drones made by a German company MikroKopter. I built and flew several MikroKopter HexaKopters. They used proprietary firmware and parts (expensive). I also became a moderator for a website that promoted drones. Also flew an early DJI which I believe was called a Flame if my memory serves me right. It was also a kit and all the DJI flight modules including the GPS had to be attached by yourself. Cameras back then were always considered an option and some of the gimbles cost as much or more than the cameras.
I got burnt out for more than a few years as a result of the do-gooders and folks that didn’t want you to fly a drone. but at this time I am renewing my interest in drones that are ready-to-fly.
