Yeah I'd be surprised if DJI doesn't automatically detect when the gimbal has the cover on as its clearly a very common and easy to make mistake to make (and would be silly for it to damage itself in this state), but I'll open it up when transferring files from now on.
Seen some mixed reports on this with older drones, but with the USB-C connection is super convenient to transfer from the M3P directly to my laptop and I wanted to know if I need to remove the cover every time I start it up, even if its just for file transfer.
These issues are making me reconsider going for the fly more Air 2S kit with the smart controller for $1500 instead. I just would love the smaller size/quietness of the M3P.
Wonder if it would be worth 3D printing some sort of grip that helps separate your hands from the more sensitive locations of the controller. Sounds like it could help. Just something that slides onto it and gives you a natural grip a bit further away.
That's funny I was thinking the opposite. The M3P looks brighter and definitely gets more detail out of the image. I think it's a solid step ahead of the 2S in low light, but both look great overall. I'm sure the 2S has the edge in good light with a bit more DR with 10 bit.

Wow between these issues and the gimbal issues this has to be one of the worst releases they’ve had to date. Loved my M2P before the gimbal burned out after a day of use, but I’m sitting this one out until some real progress is made with reliability. Good luck to those dealing with warranty...
So mine started acting just like this a few minutes before completely dying.
Mavic 2 Pro Gimble freakout
This thread also has someone experiencing the same problem. Constant "gimbal overloaded" error with no gimbal movement, won't get past 10% on the calibration. Appears to be completely...
Yeah good luck! I flew it on a windy day through a few packs so I guess if the wind is the issue it was exposed a good amount. It was 100% stable for me until it freaked out and made me think it was dropping out of the sky. Got it back and all I could get is that gimbal overloaded message...
I'd be more worried about the new gimbals burning out in windy conditions. Mine already did after 2 days and there's one other on this forum that's had something similar happen, plus someone that put up a video of it happening on youtube (with another person in the comments saying it happened...
I'm going to do a straight return as its clearly defective. I want to order another but I really dont have faith in the new gimbal's durability right now.
My gimbal did the same and then died shortly after. I've found at least 4 other people having the same overloaded gimbal freakout problem now and I'm sure there will be plenty more in the coming weeks. I don't know if there are just defects getting out or if there is a legitmate large scale...
It's an amazing drone but my gimbal burned out after 2 days (no crashes) and after doing some research I've found some other people with the same problem. DJI told one of them that it can be caused by wind, and I flew mine in some wind the first day, so it might be possible that the WIND burned...
