How is the quality on the latest Mavic Pros?

Hi, I bought a Mavic Pro back in February of 2016, and I loved it. It died on the black sand beach at Vik, Iceland. So, I bought a Phantom 4 Pro there and just used it until now. Anyway, I'm in the market for a replacement, but I remember reading a ton of threads here over the spring and summer...

Does Mavic Shoot Video or Watercolor Paintings? Don’t settle. Get Involved!

Yes, this has been described before as a misaligned sensor. It is not aligned with the focal plane.

    Iceland with Mavic Pro

Wow! Amazing! What a great way to take us to Iceland with you. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing the rest! How was the weather for you? Did you get to see the sights you wanted?

I used 2.7k as well because their 1080 compression is broken, I hear, due to the FPV goggle support and the 4K is just compressed to death.

I have not gotten any good jpeg, either. I had to process them all from DNG.

Actually, then, we should test our Mavics from a tripod mount against a test chart with a constant luminosity. Trees from 20 feet are not a good test, and do not create reproducible results that we can compare.

Laser sharp trees from 400 to 1200 feet away from a 1/2/3" sensor? Interesting.

Which image is this cropped from? Can you post the original from which this was cropped?

Hi. I see a shot from a low-contrast, overcast, generally hazy day. The nearest element in the shot seems to be the home in the lower left corner, at least 400 feet from the camera. What is your level of expectation? Considering the lighting, the distance, and the slight under-exposure of the...

My belief is that these images are simply under-exposed, and what you are seeing is the firmware's engine overcompensating on "auto-correction", which results in excessive noise in shadows and mid-tones, which it then applies heavy noise reduction to. This results in crushed details, mush, and...

Awesome, man! It looks pretty crispy.

I have also noticed that this camera is more vulnerable than some to the effect of under exposure. So, a lot of guys are throwing the bird up with a neutral density 2-stop filter and dialing in one 60th of a second for shutter speed. If this happens to result in a one half stop or full stop of...

    My mavic projects in iceland

I crashed my Mavic on day 2, which was February 18. I bought a Phantom 3 Pro the very next day. I never got to use it, not even once. It was either too windy, or raining, or snowing, or sleeting. Seriously LOL. Also, I had a lot of driving in whiteout conditions on the peninsula, especially on...

    Litchi mission close call

It sounds like you know what you are doing, so forgive this amateur question. I have extensive experience with orienteering, not Litchi mission planning. Topographical maps list the elevation of the ground. Could this have been the problem, and you simply need to also account for the height of...
