Louisiana trespass law has drone use in it. But at the end it states:
(3) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection shall not apply to any person operating an unmanned aircraft system in compliance with federal law or Federal Aviation Administration regulations or authorization.

I have run into these type of people here in Louisiana. As a Part 107 pilot, I am very aware of laws, rules and regulations. I carry all my paperwork along with copies of Louisiana laws and Federal regulations. When I encounter people like in your situation, I calmly explain what I doing and why...
Louisiana law states you cannot fly over school grounds without the permission.
Law creates the crime of unlawful use of an unmanned aircraft system, defined as the intentional use of a drone to conduct surveillance of a targeted facility without the owner’s prior written consent. This crime is...
It’s Class G airspace, not airport. It’s Class E airports. Non towered airports are usually Class E5. And no matter where you fly, common sense says stay out of the way of manned aircraft. I am a recreational pilot. But after some run ins with LEO’s I studied and learned Part 107 rules...
My take is since the FAA is going to require even recreational flyers to take knowledge and safety tests to operate you might as well go get your 107 and make some money.
I have been 107 certified for over a year. I also have been reported to the FAA and local law enforcement numerous times. By people who flat out do not like drones and even a registered commercial pilot. And EVERY TIME I was NOT in the wrong. My point is that there are people who will report...
Just weighing in. Aircraft doesn't appear to be over the person's property, hence NOT trespassing here in Louisiana. The big HOWEVER is that it could fall under another law since the person has a privacy fence. AND it appears the drone was hovering at the time the picture was taken. Laws can be...
Found this article from a Baton Rouge paper dated April 2016 here.
I know this is before Part 107 became official but it is a prelude to Louisiana law being updated to include drones. The original bill mentioned in the article also wanted to protect someone from lawsuits if they had shot down a...
I live in a semi rural area. A lot of low flying aircraft such as crop dusters. For this reason I try not to fly to high, 100 to 150 feet at most. When flying, I do not fly lower than the highest structure in the area.
I am Part 107 certified and live in Louisiana. In the pass couple of weeks, I have been confronted by LEO concerning me flying my drone. The constant part of the conversations has to do with me "trespassing" by flying over someone's property. NOT stopping. NOT hovering. NOT recording. Just...
Will get with the proper authorities to discuss this with them. This isn’t my first experience with LEO that do not know the law or rules concerning drones. Just threw me for a loop with the Federal Terrorism Act bs line.
Fool me once....
