Do you wish you had gotten the P4P instead?

Maybe... For extreme portability and unobtrusiveness... And don't shoot the messenger... The Spark?? [emoji1]

Do you wish you had gotten the P4P instead?

Me neither. The video lag issue is nothing but the live download from the drone overloading the CPU of the tablet/cell phone. Easily worked around. In your stills work, what's your primary DSLR? And the EDC you prefer taking around on walks? (Every Day Carry)

Do you wish you had gotten the P4P instead?

Have both, fly both. Use both in professional broadcast settings. The only job I have at the moment that definitely distinguishes the two apart is for a weekly show for a European TV network that specifies 2160p50 in PAL, which, of course, only the P4P (or the I2) delivers. Or something like a...

    Video choppy & lagging-HELP

John, hello! Chris here, thanks for your message. Yes, I couldn't agree more. DJi is following exactly on the Apple path. Which is very unfortunate for them, because, like Apple, DJI is laying itself wide open to being sued for the same reasons Apple is. And I don't think that DJI is as rich as...

    Video choppy & lagging-HELP

Yeah, I gave up on the Mavic, sorry. I was able to demonstrate a pretty consistent 3-4 second lag with 8 different iPhones, Android tablets, airplane modes off, on, reboot, reinstall software, delete every app save Go, new phones... very frustrating. Started off as your typical Apple iPhone...

    Southern California - L.A. area 323/213/818

Nice, ebf. Have to come down there and fly some with you. Yes, the people at the Van Nuys RC park can tend to be a little officious, everybody says they know the rules, and of course, they don't always agree on what those rules are, all the time. However, if you're out there early weekdays...

    Southern California - L.A. area 323/213/818

Hey guys! Chris from Sherman Oaks here. I can tell you a little about how the FAA will start to enforce the no-fly and restricted flight areas - they basically don't, at least not yet. They just wait until you post your videos and catch you later. And that could be up to years after the flight...

How many pilots / retired pilots are mavic owners?

SEL, loads of time in ultralights as well

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

Yup, agreed. The P4 and Mavic represent the next step ahead in technology, and in this instance, it's longer flight times. However, as a camera platform, anybody who tells you they are going to sit and watch a single aerial shot that takes 8 minutes at a stretch is smoking something. Most...

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

agraska, absolutely. final questions: will you ever shoot for money? will you ever fly with a second (camera) operator? if not, mavic, done and dusted. of course this will all change in a few years, max, when the next flavor of the month drone comes out... :)

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

Agreed with MSinger. Actually if you can stand it, the P3P isn't half bad for the money, and I was able to pick up batteries (used a few times) for it for as little as $60 a pop. However, the Mavic does fly longer on one battery charge, so even though the batteries themselves may cost a little...

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

Further, I think that I, and almost everybody else here, cut my teeth on a Phantom or one flavor or another, and most of my beginning gigs were off a P3P, flying solo. Certainly a substantial amount of my earlier footage was P3P out of a backpack. The big deal about flying a Mavic vs. flying a...

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

My online editor (read: expert video colorist) has had a very close look at the outputs from all our drones, from the V-LOG DCI 4k output of the Panasonic GH4s on my heavy lift drones, through the Inspire 2 and 1, Phantom 4, 3, and Mavic, as well as Go Pros both with standard (fisheye look) and...

    Mavic Pro or Inspire 1

Inspire's X3 is better than Mavic cam at 4K. Mavic deploys much faster and is less conspicuous in the air. Inspire is 1 or 2 operators. Mavic will accept a second remote, but that's in training mode only. Inspire looks like business, and so can be a cop magnet. The Mavic can be up, shot finished...

So much glare, I can't see the screen...

Nice solutions! I saw an ad in which someone flying a Mavic with the MaXXX antenna boosters had this tall hood that went up at least a foot and ended in a pair of eye pieces. Guess that may be the ultimate in rec flying but for me that would be a cop magnet, for sure. Talk about truth in...
