Catching the Mavic Air from a boat

I took my Mavic air to Tahiti to launch off a chartered catamaran. A couple of tips... 1) learn to to fly the S*** out of this with all of the sensors off. At a farm, I practiced landing on the back of a moving tractor. I also practiced flying while walking down forest trails to pretend...

I am waiting for the Mavic Enterprise. Here’s why.

I want the omnipotent drone. (The one that will make my coffee in the morning)

    Braking on sports mode

I haven't been able to do a roll or loop yet, but not for a lack of trying. Full forward down into a big gust to full back up. It complains with overload errors but the fight is still stable.

did NOT lose my Mavic today, for a change

I did NOT lose my drone today either! I took off from an empty parking, hovered at 3 feet for 5 seconds and landed. It was terrifying. It wobbled once and I though it was a gonner. It probably would have been lost forever. ;)

THIS WAS A GOOD FORUM UNTIL THE ( MOD REMOVED ) AIR CAME ALONG

Coming soon.. The Mavic Zoom! Then Mavic Workhorse, then the Mavic Super Pro, then Mavic Micro Air,... Brand dilution is as old as the oldest profession.

There should be a sticky post of how not to lose it on the first day.

Hi.. I just got my drone and lost my drone in the first hour. I was flying it at night over water in sport mode. Help (kidding)

    IP Classification?

I've flown it in some medium snowfall and light snow with medium wind. I wouldn't send it on a away mission but the to 500m D and 45 m H it was fine.

The prop guards add a lot of windage to the drone. It has a much more difficult time holding position in gusty weather with the guards on than off.

Mavic Air: Would you buy it again?

Absolutely I would buy it again, size, ease of use, image quality... There are always things that one wishes were improved, but for the foreseeable future, if my mavic air is irrevocably lost I will replace it with the same. Until the next dji super drone is released. There was a YouTube...

    Launch from a moving ship?

Was there spot that was sheltered from the wind that you could land in? Maybe behind a container? I was wondering if reducing the apparent wind from the ship might make manoeuvring a little less dicey and remove the gust factor out of the variables.

What size SD card do you carry?

I use 2 x 128 GB Cards. I may get another. I may not be able to get the files off of it for a couple weeks and would hate to have to delete something to continue filming.

    Travel converters?

Does anyone know if a travel voltage converter is required for the charger or will just a plug adaptor or new cable work? The input voltage on the back of the unit says 110-240 ~1.4 A 50-60 Hz so I'm thinking just a plug. Experiences positive & negative? Product recommendations?

What do you call your Air?

Pieris rapae (white butterfly) or just Piers for short. In Chinese symbology, a white butterfly symbolized the soul of a departed love one (my drone eventually after I crash it badly enough).

    REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT

Thanks for these ideas. I've already lost the gimbal cover once. I forgot to take it off initially where I would normally put it with my kit. Instead I put it in my pocket where it must have fallen out and landed in the snow. Thankfully I found it 2 weeks later, after the snow melted. I'm...
