    GPS Issue - Maybe

That was quite an epiphany. I anticipated something like this answer, but it was quite a surprise to learn that not even long/lat designations were fixed. Everyone knows Greenwhich is Longitude 0, right? Well, apparently the answer is, "it depends on your datum and projection". Thank you...

    GPS Issue - Maybe

I haven't used my drone for a while, so I can't remember which way around this occurred, but... I recall creating a flight path, either by flying it manually and recording points, or within the mission editor in Litchi on a browser. If I changed from Google Maps to Apple Maps, the flight path...

Suddenly dropped from the sky while hovering, Mavic Air

The critical issue seems to be that the fc thought it was close to the ground, so it seems reasonable to speculate that the VPS sensors froze over too. When the current to the motors reached a critical point, as sar points out, the FC thought it was preventing the drone from taking off or...

How do these drones control yaw?

Yes, but... Straight-on, you can clearly see the angle of the motor axes, and therefore the rotors. You mentioned this in your first post, so I'm afraid I don't get where you are going with this. Sorry.

How do these drones control yaw?

Right, but they don't tilt fore and aft. I'm guessing this suggests they expect forward flight most of the time? Had you noticed that their geometry is 20mm wider side-to-side than fore-aft. I wonder what that's about...

How do these drones control yaw?

Thanks for this. It not only added to my understanding of motor tilt, it was an awesome project those guys did as well. It really was impressive looking in flight, and had a motion that seemed to fit perfectly with its scale. I've subscribed to their channel -- they are talented guys.

How do these drones control yaw?

@Simmo and @THE CYBORG Thanks for the links folks. Unfortunately, I'm in China, and my VPN is not cooperating. Can't get onto YouTube to watch. I'll check them out when I can.

How do these drones control yaw?

Thank you, that was a challenging but informative read. I gather now that this is about stability. Unfortunately, the mathematics is over my head, so I relied on the figures and textual explanations. From Fig. 5 on page 3, and supported by what I know of most aircraft, I understand that a...

How do these drones control yaw?

I don't own a Phantom. I can, however, fly a helicopter, and we usually call it Settling with Power. And yes, I know what it is. What I don't see is how tilting the rotors slightly would alleviate it. There are three elements to this phenomenon, and all three must be present for it to occur...

How do these drones control yaw?

Interesting. I've got an Air, and as far as I can tell, they are straight up and down when viewed side on. Do you know why they are angled at all? Is it stability?

How do these drones control yaw?

@Simmo & @AMann -- Got it, cheers. After reading post #2, however, I remembered that the rotors are indeed angled slightly outwards to the sides, but not front or back. Why are they oriented in this fashion?

How do these drones control yaw?

I was watching a SciFi the other night. They had these huge quadcopters; they'd block a four-lane street. When they yawed, the four blades would tilt to produce, then cancel the yaw. But the rotors on our quadcopters are fixed. I've watched mine while I yaw it around in a hover. It seems to...

There’s no fool like an old fool...Mavic Mini lost!!

And I said, "...calibration only identifies the fields that don’t change as the drone is rotated." From the aircraft's frame of reference, everything revolves around it -- hence what does not change is the aircraft's field. That is the same thing. How do you not see that? You are...

There’s no fool like an old fool...Mavic Mini lost!!

Well, you did after all previously state: So which is it? What actually is your position? Or are you simply going to gainsay anything I post?

There’s no fool like an old fool...Mavic Mini lost!!

That’s incorrect. If you read sar104’s post about what calibration does, you’d realize that calibration only identifies the fields that don’t change as the drone is rotated. Your analogy fails because the cans’ position is static relative to the boats compass. If your drone, on the other...
