Where the Streets Have No Name

Sheffield. The main road is the A61 looking south down toward the Mecca of football (Hillsborough stadium) with the lights of the city centre furthest to the horizon. Hillsborough is the structure more or less centre of the frame.

Where the Streets Have No Name

Winter nights are upon us and in the UK we are allowed to carry out night flights and if anything, even with just the built-in LED's, VLOS is better than in the day. I started a series of photos of my home town by night and look forward to continuing it this year :) This is looking down the my...

    Fireworks!

Thank you. I’ve not seen that before - that’s useful. Still at least my friend who is a cooper has ‘liked’ the photo :D

    Fireworks!

I had max altitude set to 120m on the app and took these at 110m accordingly to the app. The ground does slope down from where I was so I guess I could have miscalculated. I try and be careful about such things :) Out of interest where does it show exif data in the images. Be useful to know

    Fireworks!

In the code. 150m from a built up area :). The photos are quite heavily cropped and I was around 300m from the actual display.

    Fireworks!

I have never tried to shoot fireworks before either terrestrially or otherwise but there is a rather good local display to me and given it's location I was able to plot a route so as to stay within 'the code'. Note also the display is actually at the city's policy social club so I would not...

    UK Drone laws

I know a cooper who is also a drone flyer (in fact I repaired his Mavic Air). As you quite rightly say as far as he’s concerned unless you’re doing something really stupid like flying over a football ground on match day or repeatedly hovering over someone’s garden and causing a persistent...

    Kom peak

Your flying is always top notch and your videos are well edited with good music. Always look forward to seeing them :)

The sharpest aperture for the Mavic 2 Pro ?

Bear in mind that a good interesting photo is a good interesting photo. A little softness from having the aperture a little to wide or narrow isn’t going to make a difference to the impact in most occasions. Sure if you’re shooting for a billboard it will be a factor but 9/10 there are hundreds...

Finding it difficult to legally fly my drone

Debatable and will take a court case to settle I think. There are some precedent that woulf suggest landowner’s can’t prevent overflight of land but then the civil torts of trespass and nuisance suggest they may have certain remedies available to them. Current precedent though is based on cases...

    Garrison Church Old Portsmouth

Nice video. Agree with OMM’s comments - have a quick read of the code. There’s not much to it and can be memorised after a few minutes reading. Does everyone fly to the absolute letter of it? Couldn’t comment but it gives a good starting place to decide what ‘safe’ flying :).

Mavic 2 Zoom Controller Dead 60 days after purchase, DJI wants 75.00 to repair!

The port generally fails when people try and put the USB cable in upside down. Unfortunately DJI thought to make it rectangular so it is possible to force a normal USB cable in the wrong way up. This will break the port. However it is still user error and hence not a warranty failure I would...

    iOS 13 update 9/19/19

iOS 13.1 works fine on my iPhone and with Go 4 but there is a security flaw if you use third party keyboards. Just last night I finally picked up a Mini 5 so will wait for the security patch to be released before installing on that. As an aside 13 actually has a load of decent features and...

    landing matt

@old man mavic - super tip. Have a tackle shop across the road from me so will pick some up. What weight are you using?

DJI Mavic Pro span out of control and crashed into the sea

I think you’d struggle under this legislation without being able to prove that it was a fault with the flight computers or the like. For example it could have been a prop failure which would not be covered by the legislation, they could argue that a motor seized due to poor maintenance or any...
