So in general what's the appeal of Wi-Fi mode? Why would you ever use it? Other than UI controls on the phone / tablet is it good for anything?

Krabi might be a good idea. James Bond Island might work out too. Phi Phi will be nice for the little pathway that is surrounded by two pools of water. Friend of mine recently was flying a drone there and his pics are stunning. Also, very little regulation so you can do some crazy cool stuff...

Flown to Indonesia recently with it (not Bali, but same country) and had no problem. No declarations, just took it with me, they saw it on their x-rays, no problem.
