Not quite the same. There's no tangible benefit to having a CDL to drive your own car. But with drones, a Part 107 license allows you to do things you can't do as a recreational pilot. -

For 8 years and more than 10000 km i have crashed one mini and mavic pro, avata crashed several times but with no consequences whatsoever. All real problems I had with drones were due to hardware and software failures, faulty battery, gps error...
