It's been a really long time without a response from DJI. I have put in two support tickets with them. Is this typical for DJI support? If so, I can't see myself purchasing another DJI product.
There are far too many trees in the area, I have no idea where to find it. I submitted a warranty claim with DJI last week, but have yet to receive any response.
I revisited the site (with the owner’s permission). Even though I know within about 100 feet where the drone landed (and I have photos of the trees), I cannot find the drone on the ground nearby or figure out what tree it was/is in. Unfortunately the color of the drone matches the color of the...
Update: The weather in the finger lakes has been mostly a mix of rain, snow, and extreme wind. I’m going to head over there maybe tomorrow (I didn’t get a chance to yesterday) and see if it simply blew off of the tree. I did get a preliminary quote from a tree service located about 35 minutes...
I didn’t know DJI would process a return without the drone. I will certainly open a ticket with them to see what can be done without having to pay to retrieve the drone. That being said, if I am able to retrieve the drone I’ll send it to DJI anyways. I don’t want to profit from this, and DJI...
I typically set the RTH to 100 or 200 feet depending on how far I plan to fly and the wind at each height during the flight. I can’t recall what it was set to for this particular flight.
I really don’t think I can cut the tree down. I don’t have the tools or expertise to cut the tree down, and it’s not my tree. I inquired with three different tree service providers in my area, and I will have to talk to the person who’s land the tree is on to retrieve it. I think this is the...
It seems like people here are still trying to figure out if storage is an issue. If my input helps, I had a total of 8 flights, and the drone was kept at room temperature in the case from the “Fly More” package since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I can’t imagine in my specific case that...
I re-read what you suggested and that might not be a bad way to shake the tree a little. I will have to wait until tomorrow or the day after to try it though. Thanks!
Thank you for the analysis. I thought I was being careful enough. I made sure to check UAV Forecast before each flight, and if I recall the wind gusts were below 20mph at 300-400 feet, an altitude I never even went close to. Assuming I find a way to get the drone down in the coming days, it’s...
I had that thought, but say even with my 10 foot ladder, my reach (~6 feet), plus a 24-foot telescoping pole from Amazon, I would only be able to reach 40 feet. It would be questionable if that would be high enough. Additionally, I don’t like heights, and dragging a ladder through the swampy...
