Rice is good to fill your belly but not for drone drying after salt water immersion. It only takes seconds of immersion to ruin a mavic. I speak from bitter experience.

When checking roof drainage guttering for neighbours, I disable obstacle avoidance on my Mavic 2 in order to get close enough to view detail. So yes it can be disabled and maybe worth trying in the circumstances you describe.

I too have had a phone in the MP2 remote control with a normal USB connector in the base.

I fly frequently from beaches, always from below high tide mark on damp but firm sand and have had no problems. You are going to blow sand around on dry sand, not a good situation. Don't get too close to the sea as the odd rogue wave will drown your drone.

My first move would be to press the stop button.

Thank you for your guidance but as an old man (92) I don't anymore have an inclination to delve into the unknown. I do still, however, enjoy the ability to take the aircraft for a run out and take a photo or 3 for my library.

I have learned my lesson, subsequently I was asked to take an aerial photo of a site west of the station but within the exclusion zone. I request which I rejected.

From memory I guess I was about 0.5 km NW of the station on the beach walking my dog and attempting to fly, so clearly within the large 2 mile zone.

I have only twice tried to fly my mp2 anywhere near my local (Hartlepool) nuclear power station which is still operational and on both occasions had a no fly zone warning
