Best camera settings for Mavic 2 Pro (guide)

I think that would all be valuable for him to add to his article although it may be more in depth than he wants. Since he asked for feedback, my post was with respect to one line in particular in his blog post. Pretty much since it was first conceived the goal for HVEC/h.265 was 50% reduction...

Best camera settings for Mavic 2 Pro (guide)

Oops! Good point. I’m still waiting for my filters to arrive, but the instant I read that I remembered it’s a swap, not additional glass.

Best camera settings for Mavic 2 Pro (guide)

Adding to what you said, I’d just comment that folks often confuse “motion blur” with “blur”. Even at 1/50 or 1/60 you can get very sharp images for anything in frame... that isn’t in motion. For elements that are in motion, most people feel unsettled by a super sharp image. With this in mind...

Best camera settings for Mavic 2 Pro (guide)

I have not had time to test myself, but I thought F5.6 was the sweet spot for the Mavic Pro, which makes sense if you think about it. Anyway, what is the general consensus? Is it really F4?

Best camera settings for Mavic 2 Pro (guide)

I’d phrase this differently. Something like this: H.265 is designed to deliver the same subjective image quality at half the bit rate of h.264. Put another way, H.265 delivers twice the image quality at the same bit-rate as h.264.

    Barrel distortion (Curved horizons)

The first sentence was a thank you for what they posted on barrel roll. The second (ie the “FYI”) was supposed to be an aside. It had nothing to do with the barrel distortion discussion. I bought some luts and the noise profile from them. I like them. Especially their Neat Video profile. At the...

Roof Top Landing - And DJI Refresh (nightmare)

Edit: I’m removing this comment because: a) It was a bit argumentative, and b) additional info has come to light, so it’s not even relevant anymore. c) It didn’t add much value to the discussion.

M2P vs MP or MPP WHITES/overexposure in dummy terms

Yes for the Pro version. But it’s not magic. It still requires some knowledge of photography/videography to get good results. I don’t know about the Zoom version. I’ve heard it’s basically the same as your drone, but with a zoom lens. I’d recommend you keep learning on your Mavic Pro until...

    Maximum Hieght Question

So there are some right and wrong answers in this thread. Just to sum things up with the correct information: Altitude is measured relative to your take off position. If you fly off the side of a mountain, and then descend, you’ll see a negative altitude in DJI Go. The internal barometer is...

Slight drift without input from sticks or wind

Yaw drift is a different issue. The OP was talking about horizontal drift that settled and stopped. I assume you’ve done compass, IMU, and stick calibration to fix your yaw drift. None of that worked?

    Laser Etching FAA#

I should have added a smiley face ‘cause I was just teasing. That being said, I’m a little bit obsessive compulsive about things like that.

M2P vs MP or MPP WHITES/overexposure in dummy terms

If you are getting blown out whites on your Mavic Pro, then you aren’t using a strong enough ND filter. You should set ISO to 100, shutter speed to somewhere between 1/50 and 1/100 (ideally twice your frame rate, so if frame rate is 24, then use 1/50. If your frame rate is 30, the 1/60). The...

    It’s not centered. Edit: :-)

Mavic Air footage (India) - suggestions needed

It’s a great video already, but I always advise people to make their videos shorter. 30 seconds. Use only the very very best clips. For example, early in the video there is a shot of a highway. You don’t need that. Even for the clips that you keep, trim them down as much as possible. This can be...

ND filters and Polarized ND filters

Waterfalls blow out very easily. ND filters will be required. If you’re shooting those falls at midday, you’ll need at least a ND 16. Maybe even a 32. Then, once you import your video to your PC, you’ll have to lift the shadows and adjust contrast. The oily effect you’re talking about happens...
