I can't find this on FAA web site: The original Mavic Mini 1 does not have RID. A 3rd-party module can be purchased, but adds weight to the drone...Is this required for recreational or FAA 107 flights? What brand/vendor of RID is recommended for this older bird?

No surprise. We use flight planning tools including Litchi and DroneLink today. Using our brain to visualize a mapped flight plan. Using AI is a natural progression. Maybe take the error-prone human out of the loop?

I've used a variety of display devices. Just turn back to the sun for most flights. The clarity of display (NITS) hasn't been a problem. Some apps for flight planning are only iOS so that may impact decision. I also agree with others that iPad mini is better in-hand balance weight.

If you want to "dabble" in the world if pre-planned flights, Litchi is fine. But if you're serious about learning to program and map a complex flight path with waypoints, etc then get DroneLink....you will want to program a flight on a large computer screen for accuracy. BTW, both of these...
