I only use mine when taking long trips either by car or by plane. For just short rides close to home, I don't use the cover; I just brace the gimbal against a pillow to keep it from vibrating. What about you?
That's right.
The controller (not the drone) can only connect to a network if you are within wifi range.
Connect when indoors and then log in.
Then go outside and fly.
Your controller connects at home because you are within range of a wifi signal.
Not so in Florida

Your drone doesn't care where you flew last.
