On one of my first flights I was flying low along a river aiming to capture a sudden drop (imagine a waterfall about three feet high).
I went to reverse in order to get a second shot but had not got used to the controller properly, so watched as my drone descended dangerously close to the water...

I think that was the problem, I had to snatch it from mid air to stop it sensing my hand as an obstacle, as it was just hovering at the time. I haven't tried landing it in my hand since, but I might give it a go at the weekend as I'm hoping to take it out for a couple...
I got red because it's my favourite colour, I'm a United fan, and it should be easier to find if it comes down somewhere and I have to go hunting for it.
What about a handlebar mount for your phone? Then you can keep your screen unlocked and also intermittently check that it's not lost the active track too.
Haha, I saw Casey Niestat do it in a video and tried it myself as I didn't have a flat landing surface.
Attempt #1 - Drone teased me and moved away from my hand. Cue laughter from my daughter.
