US government abandons plan to blacklist Chinese-made drones

God this is so easy... Enforcement is not going to be stepped up because the general public is not interested in spending already limited resources busting recreational flyers exceeding VLOS, Observer rule, etc. etc. etc. Any more than this has been a law enforcement priority yesterday, the...

    Vertical shooting

Sadly, you'll have to get a Mini 5 Pro to be able to do that. The Mini 3, 3 Pro, and 4 Pro do not allow changing the framing while recording and rotating the camera.

The Neo 2 battery charger offers this advice:

Nice job at Chenglish interpretation!! That one had me scratching my head and couldn't decifer it, but it makes perfect sense now.

Lost my other drone, my Mini 3 Pro

The discussion has become comic, as @jwilson dodges and weaves avoiding addressing the most pertinent fact, the final VPS altitude data from his log. Until he addresses the fact the drone was 2ft over the water and getting rapidly closer before he lost contact, all else is just cruel playing...

Lost my other drone, my Mini 3 Pro

The VPS distance is displayed in small font on the screen when within 20ft or so. As an aside, the color of the font looks red to me when flying, not orange. However, as the logs uploaded show, it was changing constantly, as expected when over a dynamic, rising and falling surface. Just because...

Max take off altitude DJI Flip

What we don't have with our drones is an ability to correct the altimeter based on weather-caused variations. However, this inaccuracy is pretty much irrelevant if you're trying to detect if your near to 3000m/10,000ft, as a condition of takeoff for a hobby drone. It may stop you at 9700ft, or...

Lost my other drone, my Mini 3 Pro

I guarantee you that if you put on some wide-angle lens glasses and drove your car, you would have a crash, because you would be mis-judging distances. Have you ever noticed the etched writing in right-side rear-view mirrors, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"? Did you know it is...

Max take off altitude DJI Flip

Because it can determine approximate altitude from the barometric sensor. While variation at a fixed location can be as much as 1 inHg at extreme weather, typically pressure variations result in no more than several hundred feet max altimeter error. As such, it's reasonable to model altitude...

    Mavic Battery life leaderboard

Depends on one's intuition I suppose. It's very intuitive to me. Seems obvious that moving will consume more power than hovering, and therefore the battery is going to deplete more quickly. That's my "intuition".

Lost my other drone, my Mini 3 Pro

There's the data from the log, and then there's your subjective impression derived from the camera image. I'm going with the data.

A bit concerned about my Mini 5 Pro

I'd guess it has something to do with those orange landing legs... it looks like they are changing the normal ground attitude, pitching it back a little bit.

5P has that crazy Air 3S RTH under trees, through buildings

@GadgetGuy, got mine from a Japanese seller from ebay. The price I quoted above is what I've seen on ebay for the basic model with one battery, no O4 module. I purchased the FMC with 3 batts, charging hub, O4 module, and another RC-N3 I don't need for around $450.

    Drone shot at today!

There are plenty of reasons to question the shooter's judgement from your actual experience. This picture is not one of them.
